Saving Faith

Daniel Whittle in his song I Know Whom I Have Believed:

I know not how this saving faith to me He did impart impart, nor how believing in His Word wrought peace within my heart.

2 Peter 1:3: According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

His Divine Power gives us everything that is related to eternal life and godliness, everything that causes life and godliness, everything that life and godliness cause, everything that goes into life and godliness and everything that comes out of life and godliness.

Mark 11:22: And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

Without His help, none of us are capable of faith in Him or willing to believe in Him.

Romans 3:10-12: As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

We can only have faith in God if and when He causes it.

Ephesians 2:8: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

He provides faith through our consciences, through the creation, through the Bible and through the Holy Spirit who inspired the writing of the Bible and through Jesus. He works in the circumstances of our lives preparing us to trust Him.

Romans 1:19-20: Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Romans 10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Hebrews 12:1b-2a: . . . let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; . . .

Romans 12:3: For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Galatians 5:22: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

1 Corinthians 12:7-9a, 11: But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; . . . 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

We must have faith in our hearts. Jesus has the power to put it there.

Romans 10:9-10: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Those who have received Jesus into their hearts had saving faith when they did that and they have keeping faith forever after. Those who have not received Him do not have it and never had it. Believing in Him and receiving Him are the same thing.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
